The organizers were able to bring in every Air Combat Command Demo team for an epic Heritage Flight, as well as the USAF Thunderbirds.

A week before the New Garden Flying Field Evening of Aviation, the Air North DC-3 “Yukon Sourdough” landed at N57. This DC-3 is not a regular participant at airshows. This was not the usual air show participant. In May of 2024, it made an appearance at the First State Airshow at Dover AFB. “Yukon Sourdough” was originally a C-47 during WWII and spent seven years at the service of the Royal Canadian Air Force. The veteran aircraft was going to be on static display at New Garden during their Evening of Aviation. After a quick conversation with James Woodard and with permission from Airport Director Jon Martin, James and I packed up our gear and met up at N57. All things considered; “Yukon Sourdough” was parked in the right spot. As the sun went down, we turned on the lights and went to work. What else were we to do on a Saturday night?
Some will call it a DC-3, others a C-47, all I know is… it was a Target of Opportunity.
