Sun 'N Fun 2023

Prose and Photography: Austin Cleary

Another Sun 'N Fun has come and gone, and what a show it has been. We had a great year with multiple debuts to Sun 'N Fun as a whole. We were treated to some truly incredible things - the Lockheed C-5 Galaxy was on static display, and after a few logistical complications we were able to walk through this graceful beast. We had met the pilot the night before, and he may or may not have graciously lifted the ropes to some restricted areas for a few of us; quite a special tour, thanks Chase!

We also waited with bated breath on Tuesday evening for the arrival of the privately owned MiG-23UB, which was nothing short of incredible. They flew a few other times throughout the week as well, wowing the crowd each time. The Marines brought in their F-35B Lightning II from Beaufort, courtesy the VMFAT-501Warlords, for their first appearance at Sun N Fun. They shredded things up during a few demos spread throughout the week. Not to be outdone was Beo and the USAF F-35A Demo Team, with her spectacular day and twilight shows. All in all, it was another fantastic week filled with airplanes, friends and of course, photography. We'll see you next year!
