WWII Nights, Year Two.

The 31st Annual WWII Weekend was recently held at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in Reading, PA. Last year, under a new media coordinator, they introduced a nighttime photo shoot featuring the CAF's P-51 Mustang and SBD Dauntless doing engine run-ups. You can find last year's story here. If you are familiar with Full Disc Aviation, you already know how much we love doing these types of night shoots, and we were thankful that they offered the same type of photo package this year.

With Pete Lerro Photography doing the lighting again, we knew we were in for a treat, this was to be our 4th shoot with Pete providing the lighting and producing the shoot. The subjects this year included two fighters and a bomber, but things were up in the air the day of the event after the FG-1D Corsair from CAF Georgia Air Base had a bird strike while performing during the afternoon airshow. Thankfully, there was nothing major needed, and after some minor repairs made to the Corsair it was confirmed that she was indeed going to be a part of the night-time activities. The other two subjects were the P-40 “The Jacky C” from the American Airpower Museum and the well-known B-25 Panchito from the Delaware Aviation Museum. All of these warbirds are mainstays in the north east and all three take up plenty of space on our hard drives, but we were excited to see them in a new light. The evening did not disappoint.

Special thanks to the Mid Atlantic Air Museum and their Media Coordinator, Dave Brown, for running a trouble-free show for us in the media. We also want to congratulate Pete Lerro Photography on another successful night run event.
